Ms. Pham
What high school and college(s) did you graduate from? Major? I graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a degree in English - Creative Writing. Go Beach!
What/Who inspired you to being teaching? How did you feel when you first started teaching? Constrast that feeling to your feelings now?
I actually wanted to be a journalist when I started college, but I hated interviewing people. I fell into teaching since I loved to read and write and had no idea what else to do. Luckily I ended up falling in love with the profession.
How long have you been teaching? This is my first year at Grove but my third year teaching. I was first at Anaheim Adult Education, then Leuzinger High School, and finally Grove.. I saved the best for last :)
Best part about teaching? I love the interactions with my students. They make my day interesting, entertaining and always different from the previous day.
By far, what has been the most creative project you've assigned to your classes? One of the most memorable was when my seniors read two poems "The Passionate Shepherd" and "The Nymph's Reply" and I had them write a modern day skit that captured the essence of both poems. They acted it out in front of their class and I video taped them and we later watched the skits. The skits were super creative and a good amount of students dressed up and really got it character!
Thinking back to high school, what was the most stressful time of school? Definitely finals. Each exam I complete felt like a million pounds were lifted off my back.

If you were given a time capsule, what would you do with it? Place all of my students' essays in it and let them come back and see how they wrote "u" instead of "you"
What lesson did you have to learn the hard way? Fairy tale happy endings might not always happen the way you imagine, but it will happen.
What is your most embarrassing moment? It happened last week! In my 5th period class, I was wearing a dress and I had left a stack of interactive readers on the floor. Being the clutz that I am, I walked backwards, forgetting the stack was there, and fell backwards landing on my butt with my legs in the air. Luckily I had on panty hose and I instinctively closed my legs in mid-fall!
What was your first job? I worked at Red Eye at The Block.
What was the worst job you had? In high school, my mom and dad owned a seafood store and I would have to drive twenty minutes after school to get there and scale and gut fish all evening long.
Have you ever been fired? Is so, why? Of course not!
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why? I would definitely want to read minds.
Have you ever gotten a ticket for speeding? Did you fight it or just pay it? Yes, one. I fought it but sadly I lost and had to pay $350!
Do you dance like crazy when no one is looking? If so, to what song? Absolutely! I'm a huge Britney Spears fan but right now I'm super into the Kesha and Lady Gaga albums
Can you remember your last dream? If so, what was it about? I had a dream a ghost was chasing me all around campus... I always tend to dream about ghosts after I watch Ghost Hunters.
What scares you the most and why? Ghosts scare me to death (no pun intended) so I'm REALLY glad I didn't get stuck in the Heritage Hall building.
Proudest moment of your life? Probably when I was hired at Garden Grove. It felt really great to be back in the district I graduated from.
What makes you bored? Pointless conversations.
Would you consider yourself old-fashioned? No, I'm very liberal. Equality for ALL.
What is your favorite quote? "Be the change you wish to see in the world" - Gandhi
Favorite movie of all-time and why? Embarrassingly enough... Mean Girls because it's hilarious and that stuff really does happen in high schools.
What would you do with 10 million dollars? Live on an island and have 6 kids with maids and butlers taking care of my friends and family.
