Geometry (Period 4)

Course Description

The Geometry course is designed to help students learn the critical elements of geometry which includes concepts such as congruence, similarity, proof, constructions, and trigonometry. This course will challenge students to work within two-dimensional as well as three-dimensional space. They will also learn how geometry connects with concepts from algebra through coordinates and applications of probability.

Throughout the course students will learn alongside their peers in problem solving activities where they can work together to make sense of problems, reason abstractly and quantitatively, construct reasonable arguments, critique the reasoning of others, and receive critiques from others. Students will also learn how to use valuable tools such as the compass, protractor, and straightedge to make sense of the geometric world around them.

Text Book

Students will be issued one textbook to be used throughout the school year: Geometry McGrawHill
